I’m a literary agency, and I’ve been approached by the agent for Rick Macci to find a co-writer to help him write a book. Preferably said writer would be able to sit down with him in Boca Raton, FL, and ask the pertinent questions.

If interested, please send me your vita or resume so that I can forward it to Rick’s agent.

    Sincerely,

    –Daniel Bial

    Hi Mark

As an avid tennis player and big fan of the sport, I find great value in tennis news blogs such as yours and read them often. As most of your readers are tennis players like myself, I thought I’d let you know about a website you may want to share with others through your blog.

The site is called Juump (www.juump.com). It is an online tennis community helping people find courts and players right in their neighborhood. Juump solves the biggest problem…players cannot find compatible people to play with in their vicinity. With Juump, you can FIND players and groups who play at your favorite courts, MEET players with similar skill levels, interests and schedules, and PLAY more tennis.

I’ve recently been involved in helping to spread the word of this free service to tennis players worldwide. Having been following your blog and its tennis coverage, I think your readers would be very interested to learn about this great new service that helps tennis fans get more involved by playing more often.

Please check out the site, create a profile and let me know what you think. It’s been getting great reviews from users and as our community continues to grow, more and more people play more tennis.

If you’d like more detailed information I’d be happy to provide it to you. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

TO RICHARD – my last email to him bounced back:

I saw you on the Tennis Ch. and thought I’d write oncemore. I forget if I sent you the attachment previously of an INSTANT BUZZER in tennis which would solve the problems of line’s people errors and the whole Challenge System. It would ELIMINATE THEM! Can you imagine the end of lines-people as a thing that really could be achieved soon? It all depends on getting Hawk-Eye/Shot-Spot computers to recognize an OUT-ball much quicker…and ring a buzzer.

I have sent the idea out to numerous tennis people with virtually no response. I have mailed hardcopies to John McEnroe’s Academy hoping he would get behind the idea and push (computer-people) for an INSTANT BUZZER.

Thought I’d give it a shot – maybe you could pass it along to someone appropriate in the tennis community. Coming from little ol’ me, no one listens. This IS the future; it’s just a matter of when will tennis decide to develop and use it?

I received a response from a person at the Hawk-Eye Company who told me it was not up to them to develop the INSTANT BUZZER. I wrote back that it was squarely on the shoulders of companies like Shot-Spot and Hawk-Eye to develop this FIRST…then, present it to tennis authorities. Never heard back from the person…or got a response from Johnny Mac, of course.

One day, I’ll see tennis WITH THE INSTANT OUT-BUZZER and tell people, ‘see that…I thought of that first, but no one heard me.’

Take care. Love to hear what you thought. THANKS. Sincerely, Doug

    old email:

    (Hi Doug:
Thank you- I will read this tomorrow when I get in. Thanks so much for sending it. I am looking forward to it!

  7. max:

Don’t you guys think that there is something awefully fishy about the fact that neither Roddick nor the Bryan brothers are playing the tie in Colombia? For a tie that has the importance of this one, as well as the fact that it will be P.McEnroe’s last tie, you would think that, at the very least, the Bryans would come down to secure that ever so important doubles point. I’m not a conspiracy theorist by any strech of the imagination, but coudl it be that the current players are not happy with McEnroe’s leadership and would not really mind to see his leguacy tarnished by losing to a lower tier team like Colombia? I know Roddick is not exaclty a powerhouse on clay but he can perform just as well, if not better, than Fish or Querrey and on topof that his Davis Cup record is stellar. Im confused about all this….

  8. Scoop Malinowski:

Max you are right, something is fishy about it. After Patrick McEnroe’s Davis Cup press conference at the US Open, the tennis media was abuzz. The Bryans took the high road on being left out though and they said they did make themselves available. It’s really confusing. We may never know the truth. There’s not enough to even speculate. The tennis media guys I know are totally stumped. I’ve never sensed anything about the core team being unhappy with McEnroe’s leadership, but it could be possible. I respect the job he is doing, and the fact that Jack Sock and Denis Kudla played in the US Open boys final reflects well that progress is being made. If you read Patrick’s book, which is excellent by the way, one thing that’s clear is that it’s very difficult to deal with all the egos on the team and lead it without upsetting someone. Not an easy job, so it’s a wonder Patrick lasted so long (ten years) and actually won the Davis Cup in 2007 in Portland.

  15. Andrew Miller:

Hello Tennis-Prose: Wanted to ask if TP was going to write on some of the ideas from the book “Born to Run” and how some of it may be helpful to tennis. There is a lot of myth when it comes to movement and endurance and some players may be getting tired because they aren’t playing on the balls of their feet according to how we’re supposed to use the feet. I recognize that any discussion of biomechanics is pretty wonky and far out there. But what if TP can solve tennis injuries or at least throw something into the mix? I think it would be cool.

    Thanks for considering! Andrew
